So something great happened this last week. We completed the rehabilitation of our first professional athlete, Kyle Hines. I can honestly say I have been imagining this day for over 10 years of my life when I first began to visualize my own sports rehab practice in college. However, I never could have dreamt that he would have walked in our doors in the first 6 months of opening of Trifecta.

And, we could not have had a better first professional athlete to start us off. Kyle was the epitome of hard work. From Day 1 he showed absolute dedication to the rehab process. Just as he is a student of the game of basketball, he became one of rehab. He was inquisitive of the therapy process and was constantly hungry for more exercises to accelerate his progress. There wasn’t a session that Kyle did not bust his ass off. He would come in every session with a dry clean shirt and leave with a soaked shirt in his determination. He never took a set or even a rep off during his sessions.

As much as Kyle thanked us for our work, it is he who we should thank. His humble nature was refreshing to be around. As some athletes have developed a reputation for being cocky, Kyle was the exact opposite. He never demanded anything, and was accepting of any advice or treatment we gave him.

I believe everyone should be treated the same whether you are a professional athlete or a weekend warrior. My excitement for this moment is not because I only want to see professional athletes or believe they should be on a separate pedestal. It’s due to the fact my team created the culture and the content that attracted someone of Kyle’s nature. An individual who relies on his abilities on the court to take care of his family, educate the youth of Sicklerville and his ultimate passion. Kyle’s work in the community speaks for itself. To be part of his team that was trusted with helping him get back to these things was the ultimate honor.
